My Hebrew’s a bit rusty, but doesn’t that sign spell out in Hebrew letters the English words “Doctor Toast”? That strikes me as a bit odd. There must be words for “Doctor” and “Toast” in Hebrew.
I remember from my trip to Israel in ‘83 seeing an ad for IBM computers, where the logo for “IBM” used the Hebrew letters which correspond to “I”, “B” and “M”. I’m sure that the Hebrew words for “International Business Machines” would result in entirely different initials, and everyone I met would have been perfectly able to read “IBM” in English, but apparently it was considered important to reproduce the sound of the English logo in Hebrew characters.
