Likelihood of Success

Ron Coleman’s pretty good blog

I am, too, popular!

Posted by Ron Coleman on November 2, 2007

I find the idea of electioneering in the these things distasteful.

But coming in last would leave an unpleasant taste in my, mouth, too.

So help me prove I have friends and cast your vote for LIKELIHOOD OF CONFUSION® as Best Law Blog in the 2007 Weblog Awards

Do it for the children.

UPDATE:  It is to laugh — I really am coming in last!  Not ready for prime time, alas!  Yet a decent place to be, in truth…

Strange new respect

For Chuck Schumer?!

If he’s earned it, he’s earned it.

UPDATE:  Hm.  Not every link from Instapundit, on the other hand, is earned… at least by the guy who gets it!

Instapundit slashes out at Andrew Sullivan:

Anyone who can’t understand the difference between libertarian ideas and the Libertarian Party probably isn’t smart enough to be blogging, and certainly shouldn’t have his page topped with the words “Of no party or clique.”

Love, love, love it!

The language Hillary Clinton understands

Posted by Ron Coleman on November 1, 2007

TheHill.com:

Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton’s (D-N.Y.) top advisers, doing damage control after the candidate’s debate performance Tuesday, told supporters on a conference call Wednesday that the campaign needed more money to fight back.

That’s the ticket! Yes, the one thing the Clinton campaign needs … is most short of … has to step up on … fundraising!

Will she be selling options on nights in the Lincoln Bedroom? And if so, do you have to show a green card?

Then there’s meme number two — actively being assisted by Drudge — the “poor little missy” theme.

Gerald McEntee, AFSCME’s president, mentioned the debate during his endorsement speech . . .

“Some of you may have seen last night’s debate,” McEntee said. “Six guys against Hillary, and I’d call that a fair fight. This is a strong woman.”

Six g-g-guys! Such meanies!

It is actually quite a pleasure for this to be played out in the Democratic primaries, including the process of Hillary Clinton taking the far right among Democrats on national security (i.e., the moderate left) Why don’t those big, hairy men just roll over for Mrs. Clinton as they’re supposed to, the way a sister in solidarity does? It’s Hillary’s turn!

UPDATE:  Obama and I see eye to eye, once again.

Eric Schie picks up on a John Edwards detail, but doesn’t grasp its significance:yiddish-curious-george.gif

For his part, Edwards repeatedly referred to Republicans as “NEOCONS!” When he scolded Hillary for her favorable vote on the Iran resolution, he said it was “drafted in the language of the NEOCONS!” (As to what language that would be, I don’t know.)

Oh, I do, bubbele.

They’ll be for it after they were against it

Posted by Ron Coleman on October 30, 2007

Rudy spins a nice meme:

Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani said Monday that two of the Democratic candidates will change their minds again about the Iraq war and agree that it was the right decision.Asked at a town-hall meeting to characterize the mission of U.S. troops in Iraq, Giuliani said they have done an admirable job.

“Do I think the mission overall in Iraq is the correct one, I think without a doubt it is,” the former New York mayor said at Insight Technologies, which makes tactical weapon lights and laser systems for the military.

“And I think the Democrats are going to change their minds about it again,” Giuliani said, noting that Hillary Rodham Clinton and John Edwards voted as senators for the initial invasion in 2003.

Nice little rhetorical move.
